Luis Enrique: Ligue 1 giants PSG unveil ex-Barcelona man as new coach

It is the start of a new era at Paris Saint-Germain as former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is now the man in charge of the Ligue 1 champions.

Former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique has been named as the new boss at Paris Saint-Germain, PSG.

PSG confirmed the appointment of Enrique following a statement on their website and social media accounts on Wednesday afternoon.

“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce that Luis Enrique has been named as the new first-team head coach,” the club said in the statement.

Enrique has put pen to paper on a two-year contract that will see him take charge of the Ligue 1 champions until the summer of 2025.

The 53-year-old has been chosen as the man to replace sacked Christophe Galtier as the new boss in Paris.

Enrique begins his new adventure in France with a huge wealth of experience following spells at Barcelona and Spain.

The Spaniard, who started his coaching career four years after hanging his boots at Barcelona B, is a treble-winner with his former club, Barca.

He led the Catalans to the Champions League, LaLiga and Copa Del Rey titles in his first season at the club.

Enrique spent three seasons at Camp Nou, winning two LaLiga titles, and three Copa del Reys before taking over as Spain’s boss.

PSG will be hoping that their new manager can finally help them put an end to their long wait for a Champions League win.
