The Reds are already under pressure after losing the EFL Cup final to Newcastle and being knocked out of the Champions League by PSG. With only the Premier League left to fight for, losing a key player at this stage is a major concern.
Unfortunately for Liverpool, they have been dealt a big setback during the international break, as goalkeeper Alisson Becker suffered a serious head injury while playing for Brazil.
Alisson, 32, suffered this while representing Brazil in a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Colombia, and had to be forced off the pitch.

He collided with former Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez 25 minutes into the second half and had to be substituted for medical reasons, with both players left on the ground and receiving treatment before being replaced under concussion rules.

Brazil's doctor gives injury update
Brazil’s team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, provided an update on Alisson’s condition.
"Alisson suffered a head injury and was taken off due to a suspected concussion," he said. "We will follow the CBF’s protocol and carry out medical tests. First, he will have a CT scan, followed by an MRI.
"If the results are normal, we will do a cognitive test and monitor him over the next few days. Only then will we decide if he can travel with the team to Argentina for our next game."
Liverpool will now wait anxiously for further updates, hoping their star goalkeeper can recover quickly.
