Liverpool legend has blasted Djed Spence after the defender’s costly own goal in Tottenham’s 4-2 defeat to Wolves.

Djed Spence has found himself on the wrong side following Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-2 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, April 13 at the Molineux Stadium.

Wolves took an early lead courtesy of Rayan Ait Nouri who found the back of the net in the second minute. Just before the halftime break, in the 38th minute to be precise, Djed Spence did the unthinkable.

The Harambee Stars prospect diverted the ball into his own net, making it 2-0 in favour of Wolves. Coming back for the second half, Tottenham Hotspur’s Mathys Tel scored the first goal in the 59th minute.

Liverpool legend Danny Murphy has singled out Djed Spence’s poor defending as a key factor in Tottenham Hotspur’s thrashing.

While Spur’s defense has shown signs of vulnerability, it was Spence who was in the face of criticism from the former Lilywhites midfielder.

Both Djed Spence and Lucas Bergvall were visibly at fault in the loss to Wolves, raising concerns about defensive discipline.

Despite showing promise under Ange Postecoglou since making his debut, Spence’s recent performances, especially his last two matches, have been disappointing, sparking calls for urgent intervention.

“It’s never just the same player, it’s a mentality that’s wrong in their defending, professionalism and their organisation. That’s another ludicrous goal, he’s let him go Djed Spence, that was poor defending,” Danny Murphy said in an interview as quoted by Tottenham Hotspur News.

Tottenham Hotspur’s woes continue, following their 4-2 loss to Wolves and as things look, Ange Postecoglou has a lot to address before their next match.

The Spurs lost 1-0 to Chelsea before winning 3-1 over Southampton, a sign of their comeback but the loss against Wolves says otherwise.

Now, as pressure mounts and criticism intensify, Djed Spence’s blunder at Molineux has not only dented Tottenham’s momentum but also raised serious questions about his place in Postecoglou’s plans.
