The former Tusker man has discussed his failed overseas transfer and ongoing career with Gor Mahia after trials abroad did not lead to signings.

Gor Mahia full back Levin Odhiambo has shared his experiences about an unsuccessful transfer attempt that could have seen him play in the Swedish leagues.

The move, mired by unexpected circumstances, left the Kenyan international to navigate his football career back home with a sense of what could have been.

Odhiambo was in the spotlight last year following impressive performances with his former side Tusker FC in the FKF Premier League, which drew the attention of Vasteras SK leading to an invitation for trials.

"I had a fantastic start with Vasteras. The trial initially was set for one and a half weeks, but the coach was impressed and extended it," Odhiambo revealed in an interview with Sports Eye.

"Unfortunately, after a center back was injured and couldn't finish the season, they needed to fill that specific slot, which limited my opportunities. Despite this, the coaches have kept in touch, which is encouraging," he added.

The dynamic defender then had a stint with another Swedish club, Vasalund IF, where circumstances were less than ideal for a permanent move.

"Moving to Vasalund was quite sudden. I hadn't completed my stint with Västerås when I joined them. My time at Vasalund was great; I had already adapted to Sweden, and being with my friends Frank Odhiambo and Anto made it even better. They were a big support. However, Vasalund wasn't prepared to sign me immediately since I joined them unexpectedly, but we've stayed in contact to see what the future holds," Odhiambo explained.

Despite these overseas endeavors, Odhiambo's career continued to evolve back in Kenya.

After his contract with Tusker FC ended, he joined Gor Mahia on a free transfer.

His transfer saga included a failed attempt during the January window when Tusker refused to release him without a satisfactory offer.

The Brewers demanded Ksh 3 million, but Gor Mahia's offer of Ksh 120,000 was deemed insufficient.

Joining K'Ogalo marked a reunion for Odhiambo with his former teammate at Wazito FC Rooney Onyango.
