'Ingwe' play Bandari as Kariobangi Sharks pit Kakamega Homeboyz

Kariobangi Sharks’ head coach, William Muluya ,will be hoping the win his side picked in midweek against Mathare United will give them the confidence they need to upstage Kakamega Homeboyz, having gone on a run of four consecutive defeats, including a 3-1 loss to the Patrick Odhiambo coached outfit last weekend.

Sharks are the most prolific side in the Premier League, scoring 41 times, but have not been particularly solid at the back, conceding 39 league goals. The return of captain, KevinLuke Otiala is a big boost for the side though, given the side had missed his assurance and leadership at the back.

Having won the tournament in 2018, Muluya will be hoping his young side can manage to show maturity and nerve to try and proceed to the quarterfinals.

FKF PL Furious FKFPL coaches lambast rampant match fixing in Kenyan football

A couple of culprits were recently arrested for allegedly trying to alter the outcome of a game involving Nairobi City Stars and Sofapaka FC last month. Ulinzi Stars’ head coach, Boniface Mwalala insists that everyone involved in football needs to earn the right to earn greener fortunes by working for it, rather than taking the shortcut route to earn a few bob.

Kakamega Homeboyz boast a near-perfect record of 10 wins from 14 appearances against Sharks, including their win last week, Odhiambo will hope that his side can replicate what they showed last week.

After Sharks had given them a tough game, looking like it would end in a 1-1 draw, two late goals from Moses Mudavadi and a penalty by Christopher Mbehelo proved the side’s character in moments that count.

They will come into the fixture full of confidence having won four of their last six matches and will be hoping to make it five wins from seven.

Later at the same venue, AFC Leopards will be seeking to make a run of four consecutive draws into a win when they play Anthony “Modo” Kimani’s Bandari at the MISC Kasarani Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Although there ban imposed on the club preventing fans from attending four consecutive league matches owing to fan unrest against Kakamega Homeboyz,, FKF CEO Barry Otieno confirmed fans would be allowed to attend the cup match.

The match may be considerably even, considering both sides have a nearly identical head to head record. In 19 meetings, AFC Leopards have won 8 while Bandari have won 6. They have drawn the training 5. Expect this to be a very tight match, with extra time and penalties a possibility.
