Leeds United are reportedly set to announce former Watford and Valencia manager Javi Gracia as the new manager after productive talks.
Javi Gracia has become the favourite to land the Leeds United job after holding positive talks with the club as they seek a replacement for the departed Jesse Marsch.
Leeds search for new manager finally over?
Two of the club’s preferred candidates, West Brom’s Carlos Corberan and Rayo Vallecano’s Andoni Iraola, decided against taking up the offer.
There were also extensive discussions with former Ajax boss Alfred Schreuder but those talks yielded nothing in the end.
With their plans failing to materialize, the Leeds hierarchy allowed assistant manager Michael Skubula manage their double header with Manchester United and the match against Everton at the weekend.
The 1-0 defeat to Everton leaves Leeds in the relegation zone and an appointment is now being treated as a matter of priority.
Gracia now favourite to land Leeds Job
According to the Daily Mail, Gracia has now emerged as favourite to land the job following positive talks between his people and Leeds, including director of football Victor Orta.
Gracia’s most recent job was with Al Sadd in Qatar, where he won the league before being sacked last June.
He was at Watford from January 2018 until September 2019, reaching the 2019 FA Cup final but being dismissed after a poor start to the following season.
