Mikel Arteta has been warned against bringing a reported player of interest to Arsenal.
Former Premier League goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has commented on Arsenal’s interest in signing a centre-forward in the off-season.
Arsenal’s striker search
The Gunners are reportedly considering Viktor Gyokeres as a potential signing to bolster their attacking options, and sporting director Andrea Berta is said to be an admirer of the player.

While manager Mikel Arteta's preferred target is rumoured to be Alexander Isak, Newcastle United are reluctant to sell him unless they receive a large transfer fee.
Victor Osimhen has also been linked with Arsenal, but a formal bid has not been made.

Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig is another player being scouted as a more affordable alternative, but Gyokeres is seen as a viable candidate given the competition for Sesko.
Arsenal's need for a striker has become more pressing due to injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. These absences have left Arteta without a recognised striker and forced him to play midfielder Mikel Merino in that position.
Speaking on ESPN, Hislop, a former Newcastle goalkeeper, has told the Gunners to avoid signing Isak in light-hearted remarks.
“Leave Isak alone, he’s a happy man where he is,” joked the ex-shot-stopper. “I’m starting that petition right now.”
Hislop's comment was a response to a question on ESPN's Extra Time segment, where the pundits were asked if signing Gyokeres would be the right move.
Gyokeres has been in prolific form since joining Sporting from Coventry City in 2023 scoring 86 goals in 93 appearances.
The forward also played a key role in the Lions’ Primeira Liga triumph last season and has scored 30 goals in 26 league matches this season.
