Lazio forward Boulaye Dia has been cleared of malaria concerns following a recent health scare while on international duty with Senegal.

The 27-year-old striker underwent medical tests after feeling unwell during his national team's training camp ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Initial health concerns raised in Dakar

Dia reported symptoms commonly associated with malaria earlier this week, prompting the medical staff to sideline him during Senegal's 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso.

Initial tests raised concerns, and Dia remained at the training camp in Dakar for further evaluation.

Fortunately, Senegalese media outlet wiwsport.com confirmed that additional medical examinations ruled out malaria.

Dele-Bashiru and Dia were the heroes against PAOK.

While this is a relief for both the player and his club, Lazio, Dia is expected to undergo further check-ups to ensure he is fit to play.

Lazio has also requested that the Senegalese medical team exercise caution before considering him for Senegal’s next AFCON 2025 qualifier against Burundi.

Dia’s importance to Lazio and Senegal

Boulaye Dia has been a standout performer for Lazio this season since joining on loan from Salernitana.

The striker has tallied eight goals and three assists in just 16 appearances across all competitions and is a key player in Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

His contributions extend to the Senegalese national team, where his presence was pivotal as the Teranga Lions sealed qualification for the 2025 AFCON.
