The former Blues' striker noted that England's Lauren James is better at scoring goals than he is
Former Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has lauded England’s Lauren James after the 21-year-old’s sensational display for The Lionesses in their final Women’s World Cup group stage match against China.
Lauren James fires England to top of World Cup group
James put on an excellent performance for England against China, scoring twice and assisting two more goals in the Lionesses' 6-1 victory to win the World Cup's top spot in Group D.
The Chelsea Women’s forward has been praised for another superb World Cup performance as she continues leading the Lionesses’ quest for a first-ever World Cup title, including praise from a former Blues’ star.
Belgian striker, Batshuayi reacted to James’ performance against China on Twitter, praising the young forward for her exceptional finishing, and suggesting that she could be a better finisher than him.
Batshuayi praises Lauren James performance
Batshuayi, who was teammates with Lauren’s brother Reece James at Chelsea, could not help but gush over the England Women’s ball-striking ability, proclaiming that her technique was superior to his own.
The Belgian forward, who now plays his club football in Turkey with Fenerbahce tweeted, “Damn Lauren’s got a better finish than me bro 🙈🤣🤣 @ReeceJames” during England’s game against China, causing a wave of laughter in his comments and quotes.
Many fans also agreed that the striker, who scored eight Premier League goals in 48 appearances for Chelsea, was spot on in his assessment.
England’s next game is in the Round of 16 against Nigeria’s Super Falcons, who will be hoping that James has a bad day at the office when they meet for a place in the quarterfinals.
