Barcelona's Lamine Yamal explained his reaction in the 3-0 victory over Alaves.
Barcelona’s youngster Lmaine Yamal has explained the reason for his depressed reaction following his substitution in the 3-0 drubbing of Alaves that helped the Blaugrana open a three-point gap on Real Madrid at the top of the LALIGA standings.
With the Catalan side’s victory secured thanks to a first-half Robert Lewandowski hat-trick, coach Hansi Flick opted to substitute the 17-year-old around the hour mark. When his number 19 went up to be replaced by Fati’s 10, Yamal slumped his shoulders and looked displeased every time the camera panned on him on the bench.

'He is scary' — Real Madrid star hails Barcelona's Lamine Yamal
Real Madrid's star is the latest to shower praise on Barcelona's Lamine Yamal.
Yamal clears the air
The young winger is now on Spanish national duty, and in an interview, he explained that he was angry at his performance and not that he was substituted.
“I was not happy with my match vs Alaves... I could’ve played better. I demand a lot from myself,” he said.
“The anger was more to do with how I played rather than the substitution. It was with myself. I told Flick that I’m angry because of myself.”
Flick’s decision to substitute Yamal in with significant minutes to spare in consecutive games comes in the wake of several calls to manage the youngster's minutes. La Roja coach, Luis de la Fuente, recently addressed the topic and stated, with facts, that it was not the job of the national teams to manage players’ minutes, as they only have them for a limited period in a season.
