Gunners beware!!! Real Madrid have gotten extra motivation to knock you out of the Champions League.

One of the biggest names in world football Florentino Perez has called on his Real Madrid team to produce an epic comeback against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the Bernabeu in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash.

Real Madrid go into Wednesday’s encounter with a mountain to climb, after suffering an embarrassing 3-0 defeat in the first leg at the Emirate stadium, London.

Two breathtaking freekicks from Declan Rice and an expert finish from Mikel Merino in the second half put Arsenal in the driving seat going into this tie.

However, with the odds against his side, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has rallied his troops to come out all guns blazing and do everything possible to mount a comeback, for a chance to defend their European crown.

What Florentino Perez said

After Real Madrid’s slim 1-0 victory over Deportivo Alaves, thanks to a Camavinga strike, Florentino Perez was in the dressing room to address Los Blancos players, as reported by Spanish outlet SPORT.

The report stated that Perez has promised the Real Madrid squad some mouthwatering incentives should they successfully mount a comeback against the Gunners.

He said: “If you win and reach the semi-finals, you’ll receive a reward from the club.”

Although the exact monetary value of the reward was not disclosed, it will be something substantial enough to motivate Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and the rest of the Real Madrid squad.

Teams that previously recovered from a three-goal deficit

Real Madrid are not the only team facing the uphill task of surmounting a three-goal deficit. In recent years, Barcelona, Liverpool, and AS Roma are some of the teams that have produced some epic comebacks.

During the 18/19 season, Liverpool shocked Barcelona at Anfield by defeating the Catalan club 4-0, after losing the first leg semifinal by 3 goals.

Real Madrid might also take some inspiration from their eternal rivals Barcelona, who came back to defeat PSG 6-1 after losing the first leg 4-1 in the 16/17 season.

AS Roma also mounted a 3-0 quarterfinal comeback against Barcelona after losing the first leg 4-1 to qualify on the away-goals rule.

If there’s any team capable of replicating these comebacks, it’s Real Madrid and Arsenal will need to be thoroughly prepared for a challenging night on Wednesday.
