Youngster Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye has joined Uganda Premier League side Kitara Football Club on a year-long contract.

Zaga joins just weeks after being offloaded from Vipers, where he had spent four seasons in the top flight in two different spells.

“Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye is officially a Kitara football player after agreeing and appending his signature on a yearlong contract,” the club announced on Monday afternoon, adding that;

“The exciting midfielder will don the Royals colours until July 2024, and Hoima will be his new home town.”

Tumwesigye becomes Kitara’s first signing under newly-appointed coach Brian Ssenyondo.

The club parted ways with about sixteen layers who were key to their promotion race to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League

Journey

Zaga, a product of the famed St. Mary’s Kitende project, was first promoted to Vipers senior team in the 2016/17 season, where he won his first league title the next season.

He was sent for a short loan stint at Express in 2019 but returned at the end of the season before going for another at Police.

The former Uganda Cubs midfielder signed a two-year contract with Police in 2021 but terminated it prematurely before returning to Vipers last season.

Zaga won his second league title and a Cup at Vipers in their double-swoop.
