Mighty Eagles Academy seeks ICT Cabinet Secretary Owalo's support for Ksh8 million to participate in the 2024 IberCup in Portugal.

Mighty Eagles Academy has called on ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo and kind-hearted well-wishers to come forward and support their dream of representing Kenya at the prestigious 2024 IberCup International Youth Football Tournament in Lisbon, Portugal.

The IberCup, slated for Tuesday 2 to Sunday 7 July, is not just a tournament; it is a global congregation of young football talent, attracting teams from over 50 countries, including powerhouses like FC Porto, SL Benfica, and Liverpool.

The event promises exposure to scouts from top US high schools and universities, potentially altering the life trajectories of the Mighty Eagles' players.

Moses Zewedi, the academy's founder, passionately voiced the urgency of their request.

"I urgently appeal to CS Owalo and all individuals of goodwill to assist us in securing tickets for the tournament. With the scouts in attendance, our talented boys have a chance at life-changing opportunities," Zewedi explained.

At the heart of their appeal is the cost of participation.

"At the time of writing our proposal, the fare was $250,000 for return tickets, with all the expenses being Ksh8,582,246.40," Zewedi added, underscoring the financial hurdle they face.

The IberCup organizers have committed to covering accommodation and local transportation in Portugal, but the journey to get there remains a significant challenge.

The Mighty Eagles prepare for their dream at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology grounds (JKUAT-Kitale Campus).

The Academy welcomes young aspirants from diverse backgrounds, including the adjacent Shimo la Tewa slums and neighboring villages within Trans Nzoia county.
