Bandari conceded three goals in the opening 25 minutes of the match to Leopards, knocking them out of the cup.

Bandari FC head coach Anthony “Modo” Kimani was critical of his side’s individual mistakes during the 3-0 loss to AFC Leopards in the Mozzart Bet Cup quarter final match played at the Kasarani stadium on Sunday.

Leopards scored three goals in the opening 25 minutes.Midfielder Keegan Ndemi gave a penalty away when he fouled Jaffari Owiti in the box for the first goal, before scoring an unfortunate own goal after heading the ball in the wrong direction as he attempted to clear the ball away.

For their third goal, poor positioning by right back Omar Somobwana when Leopards hit Bandari on the counter attack sent the side packing back to Mombasa.

“We made a lot of mistakes, especially in the first half. We gave them too much space to destroy us and we got punished for it, which made our position a bit difficult from a mental perspective, ” Kimani said.

“In the second half, we were much better and created some opportunities to score, but unfortunately, we were not able to. If we had taken some of those chances, maybe we would have had a chance to get back into the game.”

It has been an underwhelming season for Bandari. The 2018/19 FKF Cup Champions started the season aiming to challenge for the league, having finished fourth on 57 points in the voided 21/22 season.

The are currently sixth in the league standings on 40 points after 26 games played, 19 points behind league leaders Gor, dashing their hopes of continental qualification through the league.

The cup was therefore, a good opportunity to qualify for next season’s CAF Confederations Cup, and Modo will be disappointed that his side were knocked out in the manner they did.
