The revitalization of existing stadiums and the acquisition of a bus are planned.

Kilifi Town is set to witness the development of a modern stadium, as announced by the County's Governor Gideon Mung'aro.

Speaking at a colorful ceremony held at his residence, Governor Mung'aro expressed his commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and fostering its growth in the region.

The stadium construction in Maji area of the coastal town is expected to be completed within 18 months.

"While we are waiting to build a modern stadium here in Kilifi, first we are going to renovate the stadiums that are there now, raise their status at least so that they can host matches," Governor Mung'aro stated.

He further emphasized the importance of providing improved facilities for local athletes to participate in their matches.

With the upcoming construction of the Kilifi Stadium, Governor Mung'aro also revealed plans to enhance various stadiums across the county's seven constituencies.

"I assure you, under my leadership, the youth and sports department will undergo major changes," he declared.

In line with this commitment, Governor Mung'aro announced the imminent arrival of a dedicated bus for sportsmen and women across the county.

"By next month, we will have our bus, which will have the capacity to carry 67 people," he revealed.

The acquisition of this bus aims to address the transportation challenges faced by Kilifi teams, enabling them to travel conveniently and compete in various tournaments.

The occasion at Governor Mung'aro's residence also celebrated the achievements of Kilifi players, coaches, and officials who participated in recent international events.

The Berlin Special Olympics World Games, held between the 17th and 25th of June, saw Kilifi's representatives excel in their respective disciplines.

Additionally, the African Beach Games, staged in Hammamet, Tunisia, from 23rd to 30th June, showcased the talent and determination of the county's athletes.
