Harambee Stars prospect Djed Spence was rated unfavourably following Tottenham’s Premier League loss to London rivals Chelsea on Thursday.

Kenyan prospect Djed Spence did not get a good rating following Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 loss away to Chelsea in a London derby on Thursday.

Spence started at right-back for Ange Postecoglou’s team but had a tough outing at Stamford Bridge in a game that had two goals ruled out before the Blues found their way past Spurs.

The 24-year-old looked weirdly uncomfortable in his natural position as he dropped what was his worst first half in a long time.

Spence stood up well to Jadon Sancho’s tricks but left him and Marc Cucurella free at the back post for a big Chelsea chance at the end of the first half.

Tottenham News was scathing in their assessment of the Spurs right-back as they gave him the lowest mark in their player ratings.

“Failed to mark Sancho when the former Borussia Dortmund man forced Vicario into making his eye-catching stop. Could have been punished for an unconvincing headed clearance at 1-0 down, with his work on the ball at an all-time low,” the outlet wrote in its assessment of Spence’s performance, giving him a 4/10, the lowest in their player ratings, with defender Micky Van de Ven and midfielder James Maddison also getting the same.

Both teams had a goal ruled out with Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo seeing his stunning strike called back after Levi Colwill was adjudged to have been offside.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s Pape Sarr had a second half goal ruled out after he fouled Caicedo in the build-up to the goal.

Postecoglou’s team also had a penalty shout after Sarr was kicked inside the box but his appeals were waved away by referee Craig Pawson and VAR.

However, Chelsea walked home with all points through an Enzo Fernandez header in the second half to edge the tight encounter with Spurs left in 14th position on the Premier League table while Enzo Maresca’s men are in fourth place.
