The former Trans Nzoia forward took her league tally to 20 despite only joining the side in October last year

Harambee Starlets forward Violet Nanjala has expressed her delight after scoring a hat-trick as her club Municipal de Laayouyne beat Wydad Casablanca 3-0 in the Morocco Women’s Premier League over the weekend.

The former Trans Nzoia Falcons striker has taken to life in Morocco like fish to water and was in great form yet again when fifth-placed Municipal took on Wydad, who are third on the log.

Nanjala scored her goals on either side of halftime for her side who are seeking a podium finish to the league. Her three goals took her tally to 20 in the Morocco top flight, an incredible feat given she joined the club in October last year.

Municipal are fifth on the 14-team table on 42 points, two behind fourth-placed FUS Rabat and Wydad who are tied on 44 after 23 matches, although they are out of the title race given leaders Forces Royales are on 67.

The striker joined the club on a two-year deal after impressing the club’s technical bench at the trials held in March 2021.

Nanjala also played for Vihiga Queens on loan during the 2020-21 season, scoring one of the two goals they managed in Egypt during the inaugural Women’s Champion’s League in November 2021. She scored against Morocco's ASFAR in a match Queens secured a 2-0 victory.

The striker, who missed the first round of the Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League in the 2020-21 campaign, was lethal for Trans Nzoia Falcons as she led them to seventh place in the standings during that season.
