Vyner looked solid as he helped Bristol City get one over Norwich City away at Carrow Road last Saturday.

Kenyan defender Zak Vyner delivered another impressive performance, showcasing why Harambee Stars should expedite his eligibility process.

Vyner was instrumental in Bristol City’s 2-0 victory over Norwich, a crucial win that propels the Robins closer to their English Premier League promotion goal.

Playing on the right of a back three, Vyner won two of his three attempted ground duels, offering stability as his side clinched their first victory at Carrow Road since February 2009. The result lifted Bristol City to 10th, while Norwich, who have now gone six games without a win, dropped to 14th.

Norwich came close early on, with Emiliano Marcondes’ glancing header hitting the outside of the post within the first 10 minutes.

However, Bristol City broke the deadlock in the 16th minute when Max Bird delivered a long-range pass to Haydon Roberts, who found Anis Mehmeti. Mehmeti expertly spun away from Anis Ben Slimane before firing a shot beyond the reach of Norwich’s keeper, Michael Long.

Despite enjoying most of the possession, Norwich struggled to break down Bristol City’s defense, with keeper Max O’Leary comfortably saving attempts from Callum Doyle and Marcondes.

The second half saw a continued effort from Norwich, but their best chance ended when Ante Crnac’s strike was saved by O’Leary.

Seizing on a Norwich error, Mehmeti led a counterattack, passing to Jason Knight, who played in Nahki Wells. Wells marked his 200th appearance for Bristol City with a goal, doubling their lead.

Norwich’s misfortune continued as Shane Duffy’s header struck the crossbar in the 78th minute, while Mehmeti’s shot was blocked just before full time, securing Bristol City’s well-earned three points.

Elsewhere in the English Football League:

League Two: Clarke Oduor appeared as a substitute for Bradford City, but his efforts were in vain as they fell 1-0 to Fleetwood, courtesy of an early penalty by Ronan Coughlan.

League One: Leicester City loanee Silko Thomas Otieno showed determination for Wigan, winning all seven of his ground duels and delivering a key pass, though they ultimately lost 1-0 to Wycombe.

League One: Zech Obiero came on as a substitute for Leyton Orient, who eased past Blackpool 3-0 with goals from Sonny Perkins, Chally Kelman, and Thomas James.

Vyner’s standout performance against Norwich further underscores his potential value to the Harambee Stars, and as Bristol City eyes promotion, Kenyan fans will eagerly await news of his international clearance.
