Kenya Police FC are set to debut in the CAF Confederation Cup against Ethiopian Coffee, aiming for a strong start.

Kenya Police FC are poised to make history as they prepare to launch their campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup, facing off against Ethiopian Coffee in what promises to be a thrilling preliminary round encounter this Sunday.

The match, set to be held at Nairobi's Nyayo Stadium, marks the first time the Kenyan team steps onto the continental stage following their victory in last season's FKF Cup.

The 2023/2024 season was a landmark for Police with their domestic cup triumph paving the way for their entry into Africa's second-tier club competition.

As they approach this crucial fixture, the team is not just playing for a win but also to establish themselves as contenders on a broader African football canvas.

Police head coach Salim Babu has been the architect of the team’s preparation, merging tactical prowess with the players’ vigor and enthusiasm.

The Law Enforcers have undergone intensive training sessions aimed at fine-tuning their strategy to ensure they make a significant impact in their debut match.

"We have had ample time to prepare and the boys are ready, except for one player who is injured. We expect a good performance, given that it's our first time competing internationally, there's no pressure," coach Babu shared as per Citizen Digital.

"Most of my players have experience on the big stages from their previous clubs, so we have an idea of what to expect. We aim to be aggressive and score as many goals as possible at home," he added, reflecting on the team's approach.

The match is not only significant for its historic value but also for the stakes involved.

A victory over Ethiopian Coffee would set up a date with the defending champions, Zamalek of Egypt, in the first round.

This potential matchup adds an extra layer of excitement and motivation for the team.

Kenya Police has strengthened its squad during the offseason, bringing in notable players like Ugandan forward Alfred Leku and Senegalese midfielder El Hadji Abdou Karim.

The team also boasts local talents such as former Tusker FC winger Eric Zakayo and AFC Leopards’ Jaffari Owiti, ensuring a blend of international experience and local flair.

The local supporters are expected to turn out in large numbers, creating a vibrant atmosphere that could prove advantageous for the home team.
