Kenya Police boss admits Shabana gave his charges a hard time despite narrowly beating them 1-0 on Saturday.
Kenya Police interim coach Salim Babu has admitted Shabana gave his charges a difficult time during their 1-0 win over the struggling outfit at the Police Sacco Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Shabana huffed and puffed in the second half and even missed an open chance towards the end which could have had them equalising but they managed to hold on to their lead to win their fifth game in six matches under Babu.
The former Nzoia and SoNy Sugar boss has, however, admitted getting the result was no easy task.
“It was difficult to be fair because it was a team battling relegation fighting against one that is seeking to finish as high as possible,” Babu said.
“They came with a plan and we came with ours. They made it difficult because when we scored, we relaxed, but I am happy with the win and if we go on like we are, then with no doubt we will be up there.”
Babu had started Samuel Onyango, a former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars midfielder, but subbed him off for Alvin Mang’eni at the beginning of the second half.

Asked why he made that decision, Babu said: “Mangeni had pace and that is why we wanted someone to inject directness and also added a midfielder that could give a pass forward in order to score more goals.”
Police now find themselves third on 37 points, 10 behind Gor Mahia, who also won their game against fellow surprise challengers Nairobi City Stars in Machakos.
Shabana are 17th on 22 points and have their work cut out to steer clear of relegation.
