Okello missed a big chance that would have sank his former side as Kenya Police shared the spoils with Gor Mahia on Sunday.

Kenya Police head coach Zdravko Logarusi  has come to the defense of his striker Tito Okello  following his profligate performance against Gor Mahia last weekend, claiming that he was "unlucky."

Okello missed what was arguably the biggest chance of the afternoon when his shot in the 70th minute went just wide of Kevin Omondi’s net, denying them a good chance to get the winning goal during their 0-0 draw with Gor Mahia last Sunday.

Speaking after the match, Logarusic saw no need to throw the Gor Mahia academy graduate under the bus, saying that he did make an effort that posed questions to the defending champions during the match.

“A striker is a striker,” Logarusic said. “His job is to take a shot, sometimes he is going to be lucky, and sometimes not so lucky,” he added.

“But anyway, he did what he had to do. He took a shot which never went in. But we cannot blame Okello alone because all (my) team produced chances with a chance to score, I was far away so I did not see it clearly.

“But it is a draw, let us focus on the next game and let us hope that my team will lift up its game.”

Meanwhile, Logarusic insist that the side still has room to improve despite managing to hold his former employers to a draw, which now puts his side 12th in the league on 11 points, 10 behind league leaders Posta Rangers.

“We played against one of the top teams. We did not manage to score. Check our midfield, we played two deep.

“Check our strikers, we created some chances (for them) that means even substitutions, they gave us special impact.

“We have a good squad and I believe we have alot of space for improvement. Let us go game by game and I believe we can do it.”
