Kenya will find out its opponents on Wednesday, January 15, when CAF conducts the draw for 2025 CHAN in Nairobi.

Kenya is set to uncover its path in the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Wednesday, January 15, as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducts the highly anticipated tournament draw.

The event, scheduled to take place at the iconic Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, comes ahead of the championship slated for February 1–28.

Kenya will co-host the continental football extravaganza alongside neighbors Uganda and Tanzania, marking a historic moment for East African football.

The tournament will feature some of Africa's football heavyweights, including reigning champions Senegal, who claimed their first CHAN title in 2022 after edging out Algeria in the final held in Algiers.

Preparations for the tournament are in full swing, with Uganda and Tanzania nearing readiness.

Tanzania’s 60,000-capacity Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam and the 15,000-capacity Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar are reportedly ready for action.

Similarly, Uganda boasts the 45,000-seat Nelson Mandela Stadium and the 30,000-seat Nakivubo Stadium as they finalize preparations.

However, Kenya faces mounting pressure to meet CAF deadlines. Despite the challenges, Nairobi’s role as host of the draw underscores CAF's confidence in the country’s commitment to delivering a successful tournament.

On the field, Kenya’s Harambee Stars are using the ongoing Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar as a key preparation platform for CHAN.

The team, led by newly appointed interim head coach Francis Kimanzi, aims to fine-tune their strategy ahead of the continental showpiece.

Stars kicked off their Mapinduzi Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso on Saturday. James Kinyanjui gave Kenya an early lead, only for Aboubakar Traore to equalize for Burkina Faso with a last-minute strike.

The team now turns its focus to a crucial clash against Tanzania on Tuesday before wrapping up the group stage with a match against Zanzibar on Friday.

With the draw just days away, excitement is building across the region. The 2025 CHAN promises to shine a spotlight on East Africa, showcasing its growing football prowess.
