Kenya Police midfielder Kenneth Muguna has explained how the club planned for a trophy win at the start of the campaign before delivering FKF Cup on Saturday.

Kenya Police midfielder Kenneth Muguna is delighted that he has delivered the promise of a trophy to the club following their FKF Cup victory against KCB on Saturday.

Police won on post-match penalties to secure the win which will give them an opportunity to represent Kenya in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

The club has been the biggest spenders in the Kenyan top flight and finally saw their investment pay off with Muguna among the big names who were lured by the law enforcers’ big bucks.

“I have won it with a different team but winning it with Police means a lot because it is their first tittle in the top flight,” Muguna told K24 TV.

“Winning it with Police means a lot because it is their first title in top flight football. I remember the first day when I signed, I had a long meeting with the chairman and what he wanted was a trophy because he has invested a lot in the team and this is a reward to them.”

Muguna will now look forward to challenging on the continental front with preliminary round of matches slated between August 16 and 18.

Police have a number of players with experience of playing at the continental level such as Muguna, Francis Kahata, Harun Shakava, Musa Mohammed among others who will be relied upon when the tournament begins.

With the FKF Cup in the bag, there will also be pressure to vie for the FKF premier League title next season after missing out in the last two campaigns despite showing great promise in the run-in.
