Muguna was named the club's most valuable player on the inagural Police FC day last week.

Kenya Police midfielder Kenneth Muguna believes the club’s recent initiative to launch their annual club day will go a long way in helping them grow in stature and reputation.

This event, which recently took place at the Police Sacco Stadium, marks a significant step in the club's quest to grow in stature and reputation within Kenyan football.

Muguna, who was honoured as the club’s Player of the Season at the Police Day event, had an impressive debut campaign with the law enforcers.

His efforts were instrumental in helping the team clinch the FKF Cup and secure a spot in continental football for the next season.

The day was marked by a series of thrilling activities, including friendly matches and the unveiling of promising new stars for both the men’s and women's teams. In one such match, Police faced Shabana and emerged victorious with a 1-0 win, thanks to Jackson Macharia’s goal.

Reflecting on his accolade, Muguna was quick to acknowledge the collective effort of his teammates. "It is a good feeling to have been recognised by my club, but I also think there are other players that deserved it as well, so for them to vote for me, it is a special feeling,” he shared with Sports Eye.

Kenya Police FC's rapid ascent from being a National Super League side in 2021 to a Confederation Cup participant has been nothing short of remarkable.

Muguna lauded the club's swift rise, saying, "Police is growing. The team is four years old in the Premier League, so it is growing at a fast rate. We also have a trophy, and we need to win more trophies to attract bigger players.”

Despite interest from other clubs, Muguna chose to extend his stay with Kenya Police FC, citing the club's professionalism as a key factor in his decision.

“Professionalism. You have to be professional because it is a job. If you give your players great treatment and care, results will come. They are the ones who grind for the win, so as long as there is mutual respect with everyone, the results will come.”

Muguna emphasized the importance of organization and success in drawing fans to the club, stating, “The fans will come if they see there is an organization and there are good results.”

As a player with extensive experience in the Kenyan Premier League and the national team, Muguna has brought invaluable leadership to Kenya Police FC.

He highlighted the importance of his experience in mentoring younger players, saying, “I have played in this league for a long time as well as for the national team, which gives me experience. Younger players may be more talented than me but may lack the experience that I have, so for me to rub it on to them is important.”

Muguna's influence, along with the leadership of other seasoned players in the squad, has been a cornerstone of Kenya Police FC's success. “We are around eight or nine players who have that, and I think it has helped a lot,” he concluded.
