From barely getting play time last season, youngster Kelly Madada has broken through the ranks to cement himself as one of AFC Leopards key men.

AFC Leopards’ rising star Kelly Madada is enjoying a breakthrough season that has firmly established him as a key player for the club.

After struggling for playing time in the previous campaign, the youngster has emerged as a vital contributor for Ingwe, earning accolades for his performances.

Reflecting on his season so far Madada expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has received this season.

“So far, the three games I have played for AFC Leopards have been good on my side, so I thank God for that,” he said.

Madada’s performances have been nothing short of remarkable. In just 170 minutes of play, he has registered two assists and scored his maiden goal for the club. His contributions have earned him two Man of the Match awards, cementing his status as one to watch.

“I also thank the coach for putting trust in me and my teammates for their support because I couldn’t have done it all by myself,” he added.

“I believe it was God’s time that made things happen because if you look at the previous season, I couldn’t get minutes, but now I’m playing regularly.”

Madada’s form has not gone unnoticed on the national stage. His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the Kenya national football team, where he was included in the final 26-man squad for the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar.

The experience with the Harambee Stars is expected to further hone his skills as he prepares to make an even bigger impact. Madada is now focused on translating the lessons learned from the national team camp to AFC Leopards’ title charge.

Leopards are set to resume their FKF Premier League campaign on Saturday with a clash against FC Talanta at the Dandora Stadium.

The team currently sits sixth on the FKF PL table with 22 points, six behind joint leaders KCB and Tusker, who are separated by goal difference. With Madada’s growing influence, Leopards will be hopeful of closing the gap as they push for league glory.
