The Nigerian forward is reportedly on the radar of the multiple CAF Champions League winners who are looking for attacking reinforcements this month.

Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho has emerged as a shock target for Egyptian giants Al Ahly, who are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing him this month.

Iheanacho is currently enduring a tough season at La Liga side Seville and the Spanish club are reported to have already decided to offload him after a less than impressive six months.

The striker joined Sevilla at the start of the current campaign as a free agent after ending his seven-year stay with Premier League side Leicester City but poor form and injuries have hampered his time in Spain.

He has so far played 11 matches, but just five have been starts, and scored three goals, all in cup games, an underwhelming return for Sevilla who expected much more from the Super Eagles star.

Now, according to English outlet Express, Al Ahly have joined the queue of clubs interested in the former Manchester City striker as they look for attacking reinforcements in light of the imminent departure of South African forward Percy Tau.

Tau is reportedly set to terminate his contract with Al Ahly, six months before it expires, after the Cairo Red Devils agreed to pay him the $600,000 remaining on his deal and he is said to be on his way to Qatar SC.

Now, the 12-time African champions view Iheanacho as a possible replacement as they look to strengthen their attack with an eye on the expanded 32-team FIFA Club World Cup set to be played in the United States in June and July.

Sevilla coach Garcia Pimenta recently confirmed that there is interest in the striker and the club will not stand in his way.

“Kelechi came to the first training session after the break with a small discomfort, and it is true that he has offers from other clubs,” Pimienta told the media ahead of last Saturday’s Cope del Rey loss to Almeria.

“We will see what happens and if that interest materialises. He does not have a serious injury, just minor discomforts that kept him from training yesterday. He will not do so today either and will not travel for tomorrow’s game.”
