Etyang has now worked with Mwalala at three different clubs in quick succession.

KCB FC speedster Stephen Etyang’ has finally revealed how his start to life has been at the club since joining from Ulinzi Stars in the off-season transfer window.

Etyang’ has further revealed why he has been enjoying working with Bernard Mwalala, having now been under him at three clubs, including Kakamega Homeboyz as the pair nearly won a league title two seasons ago.

The fleet-footer has admitted that facing Ulinzi Stars was a motivating factor for him considering it is his former side.

Both teams settled for a 1-1 draw in a televised match played at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.

“Generally, the game was okay for both sides. It was an entertaining encounter but not easy considering it was a tough battle,” Etyang’ said.

“Both sides wanted three points and you saw in the end that we shared those spoils.”

“It is a motivation. You look for a new step with that new challenge, so when you meet your teammates (former), you are first happy to see them but you also have to prove yourself. You have to try to put in a lot.”

Etyang believes that working with Mwalala before gave him a platform to hit the ground running, which is why he did not take alot of time to settle at the club.

“I had no problem because I have worked with Mwalala not once or twice, so to me, it was easy to get into the team and gel.

“I have already mastered his playing style and at the same time, I got to gel with my new teammates quickly so I have not found it hard.”

The former Palos FC and Nzoia Sugar player joined Homeboyz in 2018 and went on to become a key player for the Kakamega-based club under coach Nicholas Muyoti and later Mwalala.

A product of Kakamega High School, Etyang started his career in the National Super League (NSL) with Palos FC but it is at Nzoia Sugar that he hit the ground running and in 2018, Homeboyz went for his signature. He went on to thrive at the club but last season he did not see much playtime as he was largely used as a sub.
