The Red Eagles had gone 11 games without a single win in the league before raining goals on the hapless Caterpillars to end the bad run.

Express captain Allan Kayiwa has urged his teammates to build on their 4-1 win over Onduparaka on Friday in the Startimes Uganda Premier League.

The Red Eagles had gone 11 games without a single win in the league before raining goals on the hapless Caterpillars to end the bad run.

Kayiwa, who scored one and assisted another in the rout despite playing with ten men, wants the team to build on the result.

“I am happy for the win because we worked as a team to see that we get the maximum goals and points,” Kayiwa said after receiving the man-of-the-match award.

“It wasn’t an easy task as we were a man down, but we managed to win this. We go back to correct the mistakes such that we are even more for our next game,” he urged.

Boban Zirintusa opened the scoring in the 24th minute from a Derrick Ngoobi assist, but the Eagles were forced to play with a man less from around the hour-turn after the latter received his marching orders.

However, the Caterpillars could not use their numerical advantage as they conceded a penalty after bringing down Kayiwa. The captain ably converted it.

Kayiwa completed his brace in the 87th from a well-taken freekick at the edge of the box.

He sealed his man-of-the-match award with a crisp pass that second-half substitute Marvin Oshaba buried in before William Gama pulled one for the visitors at Wankulukuku.

The result retained Express’ 11th place but pushed them four points clear of Busoga United, who lost to Villa in Jinja.

Onduparaka, on the other side, remained rooted at the bottom with ten points, eight below safety.
