Uganda Cranes winger Allan Kateregga is one of the few that believe that Uganda took the right step in joining Kenya and Tanzania for the bid.

The EA Pamoja AFCON bid has got many talking about how possible it can be achieved by the three East African countries that came together to bid for the 2027 Nations Cup.

Uganda Cranes winger Allan Kateregga is one of the few that believe that Uganda took the right step in joining Kenya and Tanzania for the bid.

"It's a dare, a good dare because we are all daring in life," Kateregga told Pulse Sports before explaining how he dared to play in some countries with a rough political climate.

"Me moving to Iraq and Congo was a dare because there is always political instability, same for South Africa where there is Xenophobia," he noted.

"I also dared to play In Kenya, and at the time, the Al Shabab attacks were everywhere, so it's probably the right note we need to get things going."

The 29-year-old, also nicknamed the Dancing Rasta revealed that if CAF gave East Africa the opportunity, all countries, especially Uganda, would be forced to prepare, and facilities would sprout up.

"If CAF gives us the opportunity, we shall be forced to prepare, so overall, it's a good dare; it will shape us more with infrastructure."

Uganda's only available facility, Namboole Stadium, has been undergoing renovations for the past five months; Kenya and Tanzania are also working on their respective facilities to be ready for the CAF inspection.

Algeria, Botswana and Egypt are the other countries that put in respective individual bids for the 2027 AFCON.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Ivory Coast in January 2024; the Uganda Cranes are on the verge of not qualifying after losing Algeria 2-1 away in Doula, Cameroon, last Sunday.
