Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya admits AFC Leopards deserved more than just a point after his charges frustrated the 12-time league champions to a goalless draw in a match played at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Sharks held firm to deny AFC Leopards, who gave in a shift particularly in the second half, and in the end, both sides had to share the spoils.

“We had one or two chances, even in the second half, but honestly, AFC I think came a bit stronger than us in the second half,” Muluya said.

“They executed some good counter-attacks and were very dangerous from set-piece situations, very good corner kicks from them, and with the efforts together with their coach, whatever they spoke at half time, maybe they deserved more.

“I want to appreciate the points I earned.”

Muluya has blamed fixture congestion for his side’s draw with Ingwe, admitting that his players lacked sharpness in moments that mattered despite the fact that players like Fortune Omotto did create a couple of opportunities that would have given them an edge.

“Playing two close games, one on Sunday and another on Wednesday could have been a reason why he was not as explosive as the other times.

“He did his job, because he created a chance and we needed to have scored. Sometimes, if you are playing in a position where you need to assist and you attempt an assist, then the team needs to finish.

“It was upon us actually to finish, so it is a question of, maybe one of my players should have done better.

“We need to ask ourselves what made them not score. Was it a mental thing or a technical thing, but again, that is something me and my coaching staff will work hard to identify and then solve.”

Sharks are seventh in the league on 13 points, being unbeaten in each of their last three fixtures.

They will face Nzoia Sugar at the Sudi Stadium this weekend hoping to keep that run going.
