John Kamau is looking for ways to help his side maintain their lead at the top of the table as Posta Rangers have taken the league by storm so far this season.

Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau admits he is looking for ways to help his side maintain their impressive start to the season, as they lead the table on 16 points after six matches played.

Kamau started laying foundations for how his team set up in the second half of last season. Although they finished by languishing in mid-table mediocrity, there is a different feel about them this season.

They have won five and drawn one of their six league fixtures, scoring 10 and conceding just one goal in that duration of time.

Rangers  have been setting up in a way that is not too disimilar to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side, with an insistence on positional play with every player understanding their roles and learning to trust each other.

Speaking after their 3-1 win over Nzoia Sugar last week, Kamau praised his charges for “buying into his product” as the side now seems to be reaping rewards for his methods with sustainable and aesthetically pleasing performances.

“I think we came in with a product and we sold it to the players, and the good thing is, the players bought our product,” Kamau said.

“The product is building from the back and if you look at them, they are really having fun. I think that is one point that has made this team have a turn around.

“There has been a change of mindset from my playing unit and I think it has been a situation whereby we have been working with them mentally trying to give them the positive vibes and I think they are there.”

Kamau is only left pondering how his side will maintain the momentum that has put them afloat of the table so far this season.

“The most important thing is to ponder how we will maintain that.”

Rangers have a near-perfect record in the league this season, considering they have dropped just two points out of a possible 18, with their solitary draw coming in their 0-0 stalemate against Bidco United in their first league match of the season.

They have since delivered victories against Police, Sofapaka, Murang’a Seal, Kariobangi Sharks and Nzoia Sugar respectively.
