The tycoon has warned KCB FC about potential legal consequences over coach Patrick Odhiambo, who remains under contract with Kakamega Homeboyz.

Kakamega Homeboyz FC chair Cleophas Shimanyula has issued a stern warning to KCB FC regarding their pursuit of coach Patrick Odhiambo.

This follows Odhiambo's decision to leave Homeboyz for the Bankersnreplacing Bernard Mwalala on a one-year contract that sees him take charge at the Lion’s Den until July 16, 2025.

Shimanyula insists that Odhiambo is still under contract with Kakamega Homeboyz until July 2025 and should not consider moving to another club.

"Let him not try to sign for another club. I have heard of the rumors, but I want to state categorically that Odhiambo is still contracted to Homeboyz. He has one and a half years left on his contract, and it binds him to Homeboyz," Shimanyula as per Africa Top Sports.

The Homeboyz chair did not mince words threatening serious repercussions if Odhiambo proceeds with his move to KCB.

"If he dares move, then we will take action against him. Remember, he did the same mistake last time when he ran away despite having a contract with us and signed for Tanzanian club Biashara United," he added.

Shimanyula recounted how he had forgiven Odhiambo once before but emphasized that this time there would be no leniency.

"I forgave him then, but now I will not forgive him. He will pay dearly if he dares to leave. I will follow the rules of the game and make sure that action is taken against him," he noted.

Shimanyula continued to criticize the coach’s apparent lack of commitment, pointing out that Odhiambo had been fully compensated for his services.

"It is not like we owe him anything—his salary has been paid. Sometimes these coaches never learn; they don’t learn at all. It is unfortunate he can discuss a move to another club while he knows he has a contract with us. It will not be business as usual."

Recalling past events, Shimanyula expressed his disappointment in Odhiambo's actions.

"When he was fired in Tanzania, he came back crying to me, and I rescued him by giving him the job. He told me he would never walk away from the contract. I don’t want to talk much, but let him be warned—it will not be business as usual."

The Kakamega Homeboyz chair also warned KCB FC of potential consequences should they finalize the signing of Odhiambo.

"KCB should also keep off because if they sign him, they will be in trouble. I will report them too," Shimanyula concluded.

KCB FC, on the other hand, seems resolute in its decision to appoint Odhiambo, citing his impressive track record and extensive experience in top-flight football.

With over 10 years of experience, Odhiambo's credentials have met KCB's expectations, and his unique style of play is seen as a valuable asset for the team.

KCB believes that having an experienced CAF 'A' coach at the helm, the FKF Premier League or FKF Cup would be a realistic target for the 2024/2025 season.

Odhiambo's notable achievements include winning the KPL title as an assistant to Steven Pollack at Gor Mahia in the 2019/2020 season and leading Kakamega Homeboyz to the FKF Cup and Confederations Cup as head coach in 2023.

His experience extends to stints with Sony Sugar, Muhoroni Youth, and Chemelil Sugar before his ventures in the Tanzania Premier League with Prisons FC and Biashara United.
