Cleophas Shimanyula, the chairman of Kakamega Homeboyz, has declared his intention to run for the presidency of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and unveiled Twaha Mbarak as running mate.

Kakamega Homeboyz FC chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) in the upcoming elections.

Shimanyula will be supported by Twaha Mbarak, the vice chairman of Bandari Football Club, as his deputy.

The Homeboyz chairman has emphasized the need for change within the football organization and advancing the sport in Kenya.

"I'm very happy because Kenyans have decided that we have to change Kenyan football. We have been oppressed for far too long. The referees are not getting paaid for two years now," said Shimanyula as per Citizen TV.

"National Super League teams are struggling and we need to change that. I declare that I will be running for presidency."

Shimanyula's running mate Mbarak called for the change of base of operation for the FKF electoral board from Kandanda House.

"Electoral board at Kandanda house must leave that premises at once so that they can do their job without the influence of the federation," said Mbarak.

"We are asking the government and FIFA to make sure that their is an allocated budget to run this election. Until now we don't know if there is a budget."

Shimanyula joins Extreme Sports CEO Hussein Mohammed, former FKF President Sam Nyamweya, former FKF CEO Omondi Aduda, former FKF Nyanza NEC member Tom Alila, and Gor Mahia CEO Sammy Ocholla in the race for the federation's top seat.
