Juventus staged a dramatic comeback to beat Monza in a nail-biter. Up next for the Old Lady is a clash against the champions at Allianz Arena.

In a thrilling Serie A clash, Juventus left fans on the edge of their seats as they secured a last-gasp victory over Monza.

The Old Lady took a trip to the Brintiao stadium to face Monza for a chance to displace Inter at the top of the Serie A log, at least until the Nerazzuri play later in the weekend.

How it happened

Max Allegri’s side started impressively, and their early pressure forced a penalty. However, Dusan Vlahovic’s effort was prevented from crossing the goalline twice by Michele Di Gregorio, who was also on hand to save the rebound.

Juventus stung less than a minute later, however, as Adrien Rabiot headed in the resulting corner to put the visitors in front.

The Black and Whites toiled to extend their lead, fearing an impending equaliser from the hosts, who put up a gutsy performance. They failed to get the safety goal, and their fears were realised in the 91st minute when Valetin Carboni equalised for Raffaele Palladino’s team.

Monza thought they had rescued a point from the jaws of defeat, but a last hurrah from the visitors led to a goal as Frederico Gatti restored Juve’s lead. Monza came agonisingly close to breaking the hearts of Juventus fatefuls for the second time in the match but the ball missed by a few inches before the referee called time on affairs.

Juventus and Inter are the frontrunners to depose Napoli of their crown, and for the first time of the season, the Old Ladies will face the champions next week at the Allianz Arena. Their determination to win today lays down the gauntlet to Napoli's title defence ambitions.
