Reports had made rounds on Friday that Mbabazi had been relieved of his duties, just three months into his two-year employment contract.

Confirmed developments from Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup champions Vipers SC have disclosed that head coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi has not been sacked, as had been initially reported by multiple outlets.

A senior staff at the club has told Pulse Sports Uganda, "All I know is Mbabazi is still the head coach of Vipers."

Reports had made rounds on Friday that Mbabazi had been relieved of his duties, just three months into his two-year employment contract.

Journalist Clive Kyazze, who broke the story, claimed that Mbabazi had failed to show up at the club for business after Vipers’ one-all draw with Soltilo Bright Stars FC at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende last Thursday.

He added that Mbabazi only returned for their Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 tie against Iganga Young FC, but club president, Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, "who  was away in the UK ordered that he should not be allowed near the team."

The order would stand until he presented a written explanation as to why he went AWOL, which the latter has until now failed to abide by.

"And because of that, sources close to Mulindwa indicate that Vipers have moved on from Mbabazi," Kyazze wrote on his X handle.

Earlier on Saturday, a Facebook believed to be Mbabazi's wrote; "I was told to write a formal explanation why I didn't show up  for training for 3 days by the club which I did."

"I was down with malaria, my technical team & management were aware of it and gave the club hospital medical forms and bills. Let's leave football politics."

Meanwhile, it's far from certain about whether Mbabazi will be on the touchline against Wakiso Giants on Sunday at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende.

The tactician has been in charge of six games since his appointment in January, managing four wins and two stalemates across all competitions.
