Kenya’s Junior Starlets will spend one more week in Kenya before heading to Spain for their pre-World Cup camp to fine tune for the global tournament in the Dominican Republic.
Junior Starlets camp in Spain, originally scheduled for September 10, has been postponed and will now commence on September 19.
Kenya U17 are in their seventh day of training in Nairobi as they prepare for their debut at the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in the Dominican Republic, where they have England, Mexico and North Korea in their group.
The team is training with less worry after the exam headache that hanged over a number of players was cleared by the Ministry of Education, which allowed them to sit for their national exams at a later date.

Big win for Junior Starlets as Education Ministry resolves exam dilemma ahead of U17 World Cup
Junior Starlets players who were facing a headache over whether to choose between exams and the FIFA U17 World Cup can breathe easy as the standoff has been resolved.
“Qualifying for the World Cup is a huge achievement, especially being the first Kenyan team to do it in the world of football. We don’t take this chance for granted. Our goal is to go there and compete, not just participate,” said Elizabeth Ochaka.
“Playing at the World Cup will bring us many opportunities, like getting scouted to play for international teams, which has always been a dream for many of us.”
The 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will run from October 16 to November 3, 2024 with Kenya starting their group stage campaign on October 18 against England, followed by a clash with North Korea two days later.

FIFA U17 World Cup: Junior Starlets announce preliminary squad for historic Dominican Republic debut
For their maiden FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Kenya's Junior Starlets have announced a 35-player preliminary squad for historic debut.
They will conclude their group campaign against Mexico on October 24.
Junior Starlets are the first-ever Kenyan team to qualify for a FIFA World Cup and there is hope that it can act as a springboard for future success for the women’s national team and inspire their male counterparts.
