Junior Starlets get a feel of the pitch ahead of maiden FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup campaign

The Junior Starlet are poised to take on England U-17 in their world cup debut match on October 18.

Kenya’s U-17 women's national team, Junior Starlets have had a feel of the pitch ahead of their maiden historic world campaign in the Dominican Republic.

Starlets are poised to take on England on Friday, October 18 at the Estadio Cibao in their opener fixture of group C where they have been drawn with the aforementioned, Mexico and North Korea.

The youngsters have been intensifying training in the host nation since landing safely on October 2 and most recently visited the stadium that will host Friday’s showdown with the English.

“Had a quick sneak peek of the Estadio Cibao Stadium where we play our 1st World Cup match against England on October 18, 2024, 2 am (EAT),” read the caption of a video shared on the Instagram page of Harambee Starlets.

Starlets have been preparing for their world cup debut with key friendlies in Spain against Valencia, Portugal and Inter City.

The U-17 team began their training camp with an impressive performance, winning 4-1 against Valencia CF Women in a friendly match on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Ciudad Deportiva del València CF facilities.

They continued their preparations with a 1-1 draw against Portugal in a friendly match on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Albir Grounds.

The Junior Starlets wrapped up the camp on a high note, achieving an impressive 4-1 win against CF Intercity in a friendly match on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Albir Grounds.

Most recently the Junior Starlets put on a dazzling display as they defeated the Dominican Republic U17 team 3-1 in their final friendly match on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the Centro Español ground.
