Bellingham and Muller played vital roles for their teams in the latest round of Bundesliga 2022/2023 games.
It was another round of exciting action in Bundesliga over the weekend as matchday 20 took centre stage.
Schalke 04 kicked off the action with a goalless draw against Werder Bremen on Friday before Bayern Munich beat VFL Bochum 3-0 at Allianz Arena on Saturday.
The same day, high-flying Union Berlin kept pace with Bayern as they stunned RB Leipzig away from home.
On Sunday, Hertha Berlin picked up just their fourth win of the season after they thrashed Borussia Monchengladbach 4-1.
There were incredible performances from several players in these games, but who gets into our team of the week?
Goalkeeper: Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund) vs Werder Bremen
A couple of goalkeepers stood out over the weekend, but Kobel’s performance for Borussia Dortmund was the best of them all.
The Switzerland goalkeeper played a key role in Dortmund’s 2-0 win over Werder Bremen. Kobel made whopping four saves, including three from inside the box, to ensure a clean sheet and a 100% start to 2023 for Dortmund.
Centre-Back- Timo Hubers (FC Cologne) vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Timo Hubers leads the backline after doing a solid job in Cologne's 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.
Hubers was rock solid in defence, with four tackles and two clearances to his name. He also won eight duels before capping off a fantastic evening with a goal.
Centre-back- Marton Dardai (Hertha Berlin) vs Borussia Monchengladbach
Partnering with Hubers in the heart of the defence is Marton Dardai. The 21-year-old German defender was brilliant in a three-man defence for Hertha against Monchengladbach.
Despite going off injured in the 83rd minute, Dardai was one of The Old Lady’s best players.
He made four tackles and won five duels. The youngster also made one key pass and had a goal to his name.
Right-Back- Benjamin Pavard (Bayern Munich) vs VFL Bochum
Bayern kept a clean sheet for the first time this year, with Pavard playing a key role in it. The France international was deployed in a three-man backline and played his role perfectly.
Pavard made two interceptions, won one tackle and completed 70 of the 77 attempted passes.
The World Cup winner also won four duels on a perfect day for him and Bayern.
Left-Back- Piero Hincape (Bayer Leverkusen) vs Hoffenheim
Leverkusen secured an impressive 3-1 win at Hoffenheim, with their Ecuadorian star, Piero Hincape giving one of his best performances of the season.
Hincape was solid in his full-back role with seven clearances, three interceptions and five tackles. It was indeed a solid display from the youngster, who has played all but two league games for Leverkusen this season.
Defensive Midfielder- Lucas Tousart (Hertha Berlin) vs Monchengladbach
Sitting just in front of the backline is Lucas Tousart, who was amazing in Hertha’s stunning win over Monchengladbach.
The Frenchman was everywhere, winning a whopping ten duels and earning a penalty for the side. Tousart also made two key passes in the clash and had one shot on target.
An all-star performance from the French star
Central Midfielder- Robert Andrich (Bayer Leverkusen) vs Hoffenheim
Andrich was immense for Bayer Leverkusen in their win over Hoffenheim. The 28-year-old German was full of energy in the clash, winning four duels.
He was also involved in the opposite end of the pitch, scoring the opening goal to set Leverkusen to a 3-1 win.
Attacking Midfielder- Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund) vs Werder Bremen
Bellingham is the player every club wants now, and it is not hard to see why after another brilliant performance for Dortmund.
Although he did not score against Werder Bremen, every Dortmund play went through him. He made two key passes and created one big chance, missing one himself.
The England international also had two shots on goal and completed eight dribbles. It was a brilliant performance from the youngster, who is set to leave Dortmund this summer.
Right Winger- Vincenzo Grifo (Freiburg) vs Stuttgart
Freiburg bounced back from their 5-1 defeat to Dortmund with a 2-1 win over Stuttgart, courtesy of a brace from Vincenzo Grifo.
The 29-year-old Italian star sealed the three points for Freiburg with two penalties in the second half after Chris Fuhrich had put Stuttgart ahead. The brace took Grifo’s tally to 11 in the league this season.
Left Winger- Jae-Sung Lee (Mainz) vs Augsburg
Sung Lee was Mainz’s hero after scoring a brace in their 3-1 win over Augsburg. The 30-year-old Korean put Mainz ahead in the 21st minute before scoring the third seven minutes after the break.
But it was not just the goals, Lee also contributed to Mainz’s general play. He completed two dribbles and made one key pass.
Striker- Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich) vs VFL Bochum
Muller had a disappointing World Cup campaign with Germany, but he is back scoring again for Bayern Munich.
The 33-year-old played just 45 minutes of Bayern’s clash against Bochum but it was enough to do the damage after putting the side in the 41st minute. He now has four league goals for the Bavaria giants this season.
Bundesliga Matchday 20 Team Of The Week: Gregor Kobel, Timo Hubers, Marton Dardai, Piero Hincape, Benjamin Pavard, Lucas Tousart, Robert Andrich, Jude Bellingham, Vicenzo Grifo, Jae-Sung Lee, Thomas Muller.
