Baba Ganaru’s magic wand survived a late scare to lift Lobi Stars past a gallant Dakkada to extend their unbeaten run in the NPFL.

Lobi Stars have extended their mini-unbeaten run to six matches following a hard-fought win over Dakkada FC in Jos.

Lobi survived a late scare from the visitors who almost snatched a share of the spoils late on in a 2-1 win for the home side on Sunday evening.

In-form duo of Joseph Atule and Kumaga Suur were the heroes again for Lobi as they scored the goals for Lobi in either half.

The game in brief

Lobi Stars went into the game as favourites to take all three points given their impressive run of four wins and a draw in the last five games.

They started superbly when one of their star men, Atule put them in front as early as the fourth minute at the new Jos Stadium.

Kumaga has now scored four goals this season in the NPFL.

The goal was his third of the season and ensured the Pride of Benue went into the break with a slim lead.

In the second half, it was Lobi who continued from where they stopped and netted another early goal when top scorer, Suur, doubled their advantage two minutes into the second half.

Dakkada did come back into the game when Adewale Lasisi pulled a goal back in the 54th minute to give the away side a lifeline.

However, despite putting up a late fight, the Orange team came close to the elusive equaliser five minutes from time but would be denied by excellent goalkeeping.

Emmanuel Daniel saves Lobi

Baba Ganaru and his Pride of Benue will have to thank their goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel for their win over the gallant Uyo side.

Daniel pulled off an outstanding save five minutes from time to help the Benue side seal a fifth win in their last six matches in the NPFL.

The talented goalkeeper was alert to the danger from Aniekan, who watched the goalkeeper deny him with a smart save that ensured Lobi held on for the win.

Lobi takes advantage of Rivers United’s absence

Ganaru’s Lobi, with the win, have opened up a three-point lead at the top of the table in Group B.

With defending Champions Rivers United away on continental duties in the CAFCC, the Benue side has taken advantage to establish themselves as the ultimate leaders.

Lobi Stars

Lobi Stars have now won five of their opening seven games, drawn one and lost the other. They have 16 points, three above second-placed Rivers United, who have a game in hand.
