According to GOAL, Mourinho has emerged as a favourite to take over next summer.
Ancelotti is expected to take the Brazil job, leaving a vacancy in Madrid.
Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso has been linked with the post, but it appears the club's hierarchy have now sounded out Mourinho.
Mourinho has struggled with Roma this season but led the team to back-to-back wins before the international break.
