Jinja Hippos star Gracious Makita is part of the DR Congo team that will be fighting to qualify for the Africa Men’s 7s this weekend in Mauritius.
The qualifiers were originally scheduled to host twelve teams, but the organisers have confirmed eight.
They include hosts Mauritius, DR Congo, Nigeria, Burundi, Ghana, Botswana, Lesotho and Algeria.
“We are thrilled to announce that one of our very own players, Gracious Makita is set to represent DR Congo in the Rugby Africa sevens pre-qualifiers this weekend,” Hippos confirmed Makita’s invitation.
The qualifier event will be hosted on Saturday and Sunday at the Labourdonnais Sports Grounds.
The main event will take place in Zimbabwe on September 16th and 17th.
The winner will qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, and the second and third-placed teams qualifying for the 2024 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament.
