Jeremy Bisau is the latest foreign-based player to earn a call-up to Harambee Stars after making the squad to the COSFA Cup and he brings plenty of attacking talent to the national team.

When Harambee Stars assistant coach Ken Odhiambo named the squad set to do duty for Kenya at the COSAFA Cup, there was a new call-up, Jeremy Bisau.

The 18-year-old winger is based in England and plays for Brooke House College in Leicester.

It will be the first time he will be brushing shoulders with his national team colleagues but not be the first time for the teen sensation to don national team colours.

Jeremy was part of Kenya’s Talanta Hela U-19 boys’ team that featured in the Costa Daurada tournament in Tarragona, Spain in March after receiving an invitation courtesy of Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba.

He was a second half substitute during Kenya’s 3-0 win against CF Constantine from Tarragona before he made it into the first XI against XBuyer, as Kenya thumped the Spanish side 4-0, and did not look back.

His displays impressed coaches and scouts and for those who followed him at the tournament, it is no surprise that he has made the national team.

Jeremy was born in Lausanne, Switzerland when his father Kakai Bisau, the current MP for Kiminini, was working for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

He is the last born in a family of three with brother Fritz and sister Sally pursuing different careers.

However, for Jeremy, football was close to his heart and his father had to find a place where he would pursue his football dream as well as education.

“Basically, I was at Swiss Club and it didn’t work out for me and my dad got in contact with an agent for me to move to England. At Brooke House Academy, it’s a different level and the main goal there is to push players to go and sign professional contracts,” Jeremy told PD Sports during the tournament in Tarragona.

“Definitely my goal is to sign a professional contract and play at the highest level. The support that my parents have given me since I was a kid is what pushes me to work hard every time.”

Namwamba was among those wowed by the speedy winger’s talent in Tarragona, promising Kenyans big things from the youngster.

“Wakenya, watch out for Jeremy Bisau. Baller! Superb work Omwami Hon Kakai Bisau. The #TalantaHela pipeline is on a roll,” Namwamba posted on X in March.

After his sojourn in Spain, Jeremy was itching for more, expressing his desire to represent Kenya in the near future.

“It has been my target from young age to play for Kenya and the fact that my parents are Kenyan, it means that it’s a country that is close to my heart and its home actually. Representing Kenya will mean a lot to me and my parent and for sure, it will be a dream come true,” Jeremy added.

He has not had to wait for long before his moment arrived and now, he has the chance to show Kenyans what his made of during the COSAFA tournament set to take place in South Africa from June 26-July 7.

Kenya, who were invited to replace Malawi, are in Group B alongside record seven-time winners Zambia, Zimbabwe and Comoros.
