Jadon Sancho has officially completed his move to Chelsea on a season-long loan, with a mandatory purchase clause set for next summer.

In his first interview as a Chelsea player, Sancho opened up about what made Stamford Bridge the right choice for him.

Sancho revealed that the decisive factor in his decision to join Chelsea was a phone call with Blues manager Enzo Maresca.

"I think it’s the manager who really drew me to the project,” Sancho said. “He spoke to me on the phone about this project and what he was building here, and for a young player like myself it’s exciting and I can’t wait to get started.”

The connection between Maresca and Sancho dates back to their time at Manchester City, where they first crossed paths, adding a layer of familiarity and trust to the move.

The winger’s exit from Manchester United was marked by heartfelt messages from his former teammates.

Kobbie Mainoo, who shared a brief but supportive comment on Sancho’s farewell post, wrote: “All the best bro” accompanied by a fingers-crossed emoji.

Alejandro Garnacho also extended his well-wishes, commenting “good luck” on Sancho’s new chapter at Chelsea.

These messages underline the camaraderie and respect that persist among the players, even as Sancho begins a new journey in the Premier League.

As Sancho looks ahead to his Chelsea debut, he is set to miss the club’s clash against Crystal Palace due to registration deadlines but could feature in their next match against Bournemouth after the international break.

The new phase promises fresh opportunities and a chance for Sancho to make a significant impact under Maresca’s guidance.
