'Double Trouble' - Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson steps in Drogba's shoes as he chases Erling Haaland
Nicolas Jackson has matched Didier Drogba as his Erling Haaland's chase continues after a man-of-the-match display for Chelsea at West Ham United.
The former Villarreal man particularly took offence to Mikel’s comments on his performance level, and he hit back at the 2013 AFCON champion. He has also taken the criticism in his stride and is witnessing an improvement in his form.
Jackson's purple patch
After a tumultuous summer in which Chelsea chased Napoli's Victor Osimhen, who will expectedly replace the Senegalese in the starting lineup, Jackson's form has taken a turn for the better.
Of the five matches the young striker has started this season, he has scored four goals and provided two assists. Three of those goal contributions came this afternoon when he was involved in every goal in the 3-0 victory over West Ham.
What Oliseh said
The plaudits trooped in for Jackson following the impressive performance at the London Stadium, where he scored twice and provided an assist.
Former Nigerian national team head coach, Oliseh, joined in the adulation, as he praised the Teranga Lions star for turning his form around.
“5 matches,4 goals and 2 assists; Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson is truly lmpressive, rekindling the form he showed at Villareal,” Oliseh shared on X. “Just love it when Africans excel after facing challenges. Keep it up lil bro!”
