The Super Eagles star played his part in the Toffees Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi played the whole 90 minutes as Everton came back twice to secure a point in their Premier League encounter against Chelsea on Saturday evening at Stamford Bridge.
Iwobi had a decent game, making one key pass and firing one shot on target, but it was not enough to help Everton secure at least a point at Stamford Bridge.
How it happened
Both teams came into the match on the back of good results, with Chelsea winning at Leicester City, while Everton defeated Brentford last time out.
Chelsea manager Graham Potter made a couple of changes to the side that beat Leicester last week, with Christian Pulisic coming in into the starting line-up.
Meanwhile, Everton’s manager Sean Dyche stuck with the same side that beat Brentford last weekend.
Chelsea started the game as the better team, with Potter’s men enjoying the early share of possession.
However, Dyche’s men were resolute in defence, keeping Chelsea to shots from outside. The Blues did have three shots on target in the opening half but were kept out by Jordan Pickford in Everton’s goal.
Felix and Havertz strikes are not enough
Chelsea started the second half the way they ended the first half and they got their reward seven minutes in.
The Blues took the lead in the 52nd minute through Joao Felix, who fired in a low shot from the edge of the box following Michael Keane’s poor clearance.
The goal raised the roof at Stamford Bridge and almost gave them an instant second, but Puliscic’s strike was ruled out for offside.
The decision would prove costly as Everton restored parity moments later through Abdoulaye Doucoure, who headed home after connecting with James Tarkowski’s header from a corner kick.
However, the Toffees were only level for just a few minutes as Chelsea were handed a penalty in the 74th minute.
Kai Havertz stepped up to take it, sending Pickford the wrong way. Harvertz looked to be the winner until substitute Ellis Simms showed great strength to beat Kalidou Koulibaly to a ball from Doucoure before slotting past Kepa Arizzabalaga in Chelsea’s goal.

Although the Blues piled on late pressure, Everton held on for a precious point, which keeps them out of the relegation zone.
