The match started with Barcelona quickly asserting their dominance. Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty in the 10th minute after being fouled by Brest's goalkeeper Marco Bizot to open the floodgate.

The goal marked Lewandowski's 100th in the Champions League, placing him alongside legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in an exclusive club.

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, Barcelona struggled to extend their lead in the first half. Fermin Lopez came close on several occasions but was thwarted by a resilient Brest defence.

However, Dani Olmo broke through in the 65th minute, scoring with a well-placed shot that doubled Barcelona's advantage.

As Brest pushed for a consolation goal, they had a strike ruled out for offside, highlighting Barcelona's defensive organisation. Lewandowski capped off the night with another goal in stoppage time, sealing a comprehensive victory for his team.

Flick's Praise for Pressing Game

After the match, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick reflected on his team's performance and their pressing style.

"Pressing is our style, even in the 91st minute," he told UEFA.com. "Win it when you press high, as there's a short distance to the opponents' goalmouth."

Flick acknowledged that while not everything was perfect during the match, it represented a positive step forward following their previous results against Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo.

“Today, not everything was perfect, but it was a really good step forward in the right direction after that match in Vigo,” he added.

“I missed a little bit of hunger from them to score more goals, but this was very pleasing.” His comments show his commitment to maintaining high standards and pushing his players to excel.

Hansi Flick wants more from Barcelona despite the big win.

With this win, Barcelona moved up to second place in the Champions League table with 12 points, while Brest remained on 10 points after suffering their first defeat of the campaign.

The victory not only boosts Barcelona's confidence but also sets them up favourably as they continue their push for a place in the elusive top eight in the new format.
