The Nigeria-eligible youngster made his debut for the Blues in their Premier League clash against Fulham.

Noni Madueke has expressed his delight after making his Premier League debut for Chelsea in their draw against Fulham on Friday night.

Madueke, who joined Chelsea from PSV last month, came on at half-time for fellow January signing Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The 20-year-old showed a glimpse of his quality in the 45 minutes he played with a pass accuracy of 78%, including two key passes.

Madueke's night of mixed feelings

It was a dream come true for the British-Nigerian star having previously played for Tottenham’s youth side.

Maduke, who is still eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents despite representing England at youth level,  was ecstatic, stating his happiness at making his Premier League debut, although he was disappointed with the result.

"Two weeks training, getting to know the boys and the club. I’m glad I made my debut but upset we didn’t get the win, Maduke said as per BBC. It’s a dream come true. Any young boy wants to play in the Premier League."

But despite the disappointment, Madueke insists the team can take positives from the performance, adding that the team will get better when the players get to know each other.

Madueke was unhappy with the scoreline

“Obviously, we’re disappointed we didn’t win the game. There were positives to take. We have a lot of new players. I’m sure in time we’ll know each other’s game more naturally,” Madueke added.

Chelsea frustrated

It was a frustrating night for Chelsea as they failed to beat a well-organised Fulham side despite fielding a host of their signings.

The Blues were the busiest club in the just-concluded January transfer window as they made over five signings, including a British transfer record for Enzo Fernandes from Benfica.

Three of their new signings started the game, including Fernandes and Mudryk. But despite the pair’s best efforts, it was another frustrating night for Graham Potter’s men who now have just two wins in their last eleven league games.

Friday’s night result dealt a further blow to their already slim chance of qualifying for the Champions League as they are currently nine points behind Manchester United in fourth place, having played a game more.

Chelsea will hope to bounce back when they take on West Ham next week.
