The former Kisumu All Stars and Wazito right back has revealed how he felt when he signed for Gor Mahia in July, describing the feeling as “unmatched”.

Gor Mahia right back Alvin ‘Chicha’ Ochieng’ has revealed how ecstatic he was at receiving the news he was set to sign for the 20-time FKFPL champions.

Ochieng’ signed for Gor Mahia on a free transfer after leaving FC Talanta in July, and has already won the FKF Community Shield with the club after beating Kakamega Homeboyz 4-1 on penalties in a match played at the Kasarani Stadium in August.

The former Kisumu All Stars and Wazito right back has revealed how he felt when he signed for the club, describing the feeling as “unmatched”.

“It was unmatched. I was just so happy that day,” Ochieng told Buzz Kenya, “I was surprised because of all the games and of all the teams that I have played for, it is the one team that you want to play for here in Kenya,” he added.

The former Kenya u20 international is competing with Rooney Onyango, Paul Ochuoga and captain Philemon Otieno for the position, but is willing to fight for his place to earn a spot in the team on a regular basis and help the side complete its objectives.

“I want to perform well this season and help Gor qualify for CAF. After CAF, I also want to earn a national team call up before I go overseas. I cannot plan, but God knows best.

“For now, I am looking at the competition I have in the team. I have Rooney (Onyango), Paul Ochuoga, Philemon Otieno. If I can earn a regular spot over them, I will then know for sure that I can gauge myself somewhere.

The Kisumu Day Alumnus first played in the FKFPL with Kisumu All Stars, who he helped achieve promotion to the topflight in the 2018/2019 season.

He then joined Wazito in 2020, before briefly being loaned back to Kisumu All Stars and then signed for FC Talanta at the beginning of last season.
