Shabana were leading 1-0 against Kariobangi Sharks but had to settle for a 1-1 draw after a dubious penalty was awarded in Sharks' favor.

Shabana interim manager David Juma has called on fans to exercise patience after witnessing encouraging signs in his side’s 1-1 draw with Kariobangi Sharks at Dandora Stadium on Saturday.

Despite taking a 1-0 lead, Shabana couldn't hold on for the win, settling instead for a share of the spoils as they continue to seek their first victory of the season.

The match was unusual, with both teams missing their head coaches due to external commitments. Shabana's head coach, Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo, was notably absent, having temporarily stepped aside amidst a difficult start to the season, leaving former goalkeeper Juma to steer the team from the sidelines.

On the other side, Kariobangi Sharks’ head coach William Muluya was away fulfilling CHAN duties with Harambee Stars, with assistant coach Ezekiel Seda overseeing the squad.

Addressing the media after the draw, Juma expressed satisfaction with Shabana’s performance, urging fans to see the positive strides made during Saturday’s match.

"We did not get anything wrong. We had our game plan, and it worked, but they got a penalty by bad luck. We lost a little concentration and got punished after going up," Juma explained.

Acknowledging the frustrations of Shabana’s supporters, he emphasised the importance of patience. "Football is a process. We signed 13 players, and it is all about gelling, so we have to be patient. It is all about trusting the process."

Commenting on the absence of Shabana’s top striker, Juma noted that while it may have affected the team, the responsibility to perform lies with any player given an opportunity.

"I cannot say missing our top striker affected us that much. Football is a game of chances. If you are a player and given a chance, you have to show what you can do. Tegs [Tegisi] has shown us something. If he is not there, can we find someone capable of filling his shoes? That’s the question we need to answer."

Shabana is expected to announce their new head coach on Monday, and sources close to Pulse Sports suggest that Mathare United’s John Kamau is set to take the helm, with a view to implementing a more progressive and entertaining style of play for the side.
