Kariobangi Sharks denied Shabana their first victory in a stalemate at the Dandora stadium on Saturday having to come back from behind to secure a point.

Kariobangi Sharks coach Ezekiel Seda has highlighted a congested fixture schedule as a key factor behind his team's recent struggles after they managed a 1-1 draw with Shabana FC at Dandora Stadium on Saturday in the FKF Premier League.

In a gritty display, the Sharks had to come from behind to deny Shabana their first win of the season and secure a point.

Reflecting on the outcome, tactician acknowledged that his players’ performance was impacted by fatigue.

“The season so far has had its highs and lows,” he admitted. “This week has been particularly challenging due to a tight schedule. We need to improve after this game, that is the most important thing.”

The match came to life in the 57th minute when Shabana’s Bryan Michira curled a stunning shot into the bottom-right corner, giving Shabana a 1-0 lead.

But just five minutes later, Sharks responded when midfielder Keith Imbali made a decisive drive into the box, earning a penalty, which he calmly converted to level the scores at 1-1.

The Sharks managed to hold on, withstanding Shabana’s onslaught, and walked away with a point.

The result meant that the side maintained their position on the log in second with 12 points, trailing five points behind leaders KCB.

However, recent results have hinted at a need for improvement.

Prior to facing Shabana, Kariobangi Sharks endured a difficult stretch, starting with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against AFC Leopards at Machakos Stadium last Sunday, where they were reduced to ten men after holding an early lead.

Following that match, they played a midweek fixture on Wednesday, suffering their first loss of the season to Bidco at Sportpesa Arena.

This demanding schedule, Seda noted, has taken its toll on the team’s momentum, yet he remains optimistic.

“I believe we’ll be back to our best soon. It’s just a few things we need to work on. Come next week, I think we will do much better,” he said with confidence.

The Sharks now have their sights set on their upcoming clash with Talanta FC on November 2 as Seda hopes to refine the squad and recapture the form that saw them make a strong start to the season.
